Monica’s career encompasses a remarkable range of roles as a dynamic musician, clinician, composer, and arts administrator. As an independent educator, she offers specialised instruction across a diverse instrumental portfolio, including piano, brass, recorder, and handbells.
Expanding into the realm of therapeutic arts, Monica is a skilled sound practitioner who facilitates group meditation and relaxation sessions. She creates immersive soundscapes for workshops, events, and live yoga classes, weaving together voice with a rich tapestry of acoustic instruments. She performs both as a solo artist and in collaboration with other respected practitioners in the field, including Charles Snelleksz-Mathelot and Julian Silburn.
National & International Performances
Monica is an accomplished international performer, having appeared in concerts and festivals across the USA, Canada, England, Italy, New Zealand, and Singapore. In Australia, her performances have graced many of the nation’s most prestigious stages and significant cultural events, including the Sydney Opera House, Perth Concert Hall, Crown Theatre, State Theatre Centre of W.A., Regal Theatre, Riverside Theatre, the Ellington Jazz Club, FLOW Festival, Sistahood Rising Festival, Fearless Women Festival, Supreme Court Gardens Carols by Candlelight, and the Fremantle Candlelight Carols.

Piano Pedagogy
As a dedicated piano pedagogue, Monica is committed to continuous professional development, consistently exploring new curricula and innovative teaching methodologies. This allows her to tailor a unique program for each student, primarily utilising the Piano Adventures and Supersonics Piano methods. This core curriculum is supplemented with a diverse range of repertoire and interactive digital resources to suit individual learning styles and aspirations.
Monica holds the professional appointment of Examiner for the St. Cecilia School of Music, preparing students for formal examinations. Key performance opportunities for her students are a highlight of the studio year, including an annual recital in June, St. Cecilia Examinations in September, and a celebratory End-of-Year Concert.
Handbell Direction & Conducting
Monica’s influence extends significantly into the world of handbell music. For two decades, she served as the Western Australian Representative for the Handbell Society of Australasia, during which time she hosted two Australasian Handbell Festivals. As an internationally recognised clinician and conductor, she is the founder and former Music Director of BellsWest, where she directed its three distinct handbell and hand chime ensembles. Her expertise was also sought by the University of Western Australia, where she served as the Handbell Director for the university’s Broadening classes.
Early Music Specialisation
Monica is a respected recorder instructor who has taught at numerous local and national camps and conferences. Her leadership in the field is further demonstrated by her tenure as a past president of the Recorder and Early Music Society of WA. She pursued advanced studies at the esteemed Early Music Institute at Indiana University, studying recorder performance with Eva Legene and recorder pedagogy with Marie-Louise Smith.
